•MOUTHWATERING CARAMEL SWIRL•

•MOUTHWATERING CARAMEL SWIRL•
A quick and satisfying job last month for TAG in Leeds. To create a delicious caramel swirl with photo-realistic illustration. This small vignette would be dropped into the bottom corner of a cereal pack so wasn't even taking centre stage as the hero shot of the product. Nonetheless it needed to convey all the sticky lusciousness that we associate with melted caramel.
From my own photographs (of honey, chocolate and golden syrup) and reference images from online sources, I distorted and then re-coloured melted chocolate to look like gooey toffee. Using the twirl filter and one or two other distortion filters in Photoshop and then judicious masking and trimming, I managed matched the flowing swirls of the brief.

• MORE COCO POPS - MIT MILCH •

• MORE COCO POPS - MIT MILCH •
Spotted this new Coco Pops box whilst over in Hamburg. It's one of the 5 that I was working on earlier this year. I'm not so sure that the German text fills the spaces as well as it ought. The central part of the illustration was helped by modelling in Form Z and then the whole image was finished in Photoshop.

• TOBY CARVERY MENU'S •

• TOBY CARVERY MENU'S •

Have you ever wondered who designed and illustrated those fun activity sheets for children, in various restaurants? Well I used to wonder about this, and now it's me that creates them! Well, at least for the Harvester and Toby restaurant chains.
I'm currently working on one right now and this is the previous version for the Toby chain earlier this summer.
Due to holidays and embargoed work I've not had chance to post anything on this blog for a whole month! Not very often that happens.
Any time now there'll be a bunch of work for a very famous cereal character, until then, please feel freee to click and enlarge these images but bear in mind that they are all strictly copyright. © 2015

• ONE THAT GOT AWAY •

• ONE THAT GOT AWAY •
Sometimes, for one reason or another, the illustration work I produce never finds it's way into print.
Schedules change, other ideas are brought to bear on a project and the emphasis shifts. Such changes occurred on my 3rd job for Harvester restaurants. I'd designed and illustrated the children's menu pages before and was getting stuck into this fun underwater scene depicting Harvey snorkelling.
Actually I'd just about finished the whole job when it was decided by the client that they really needed a sight seeing, travelling Harvey showing him on a tourist map of the UK.
So getting paid twice is obviously a great outcome, but it still feels like a lot of effort wasted and a great pity that this treasure chest crossword puzzle and the colouring in fish and seahorse game have not yet been seen by any eager kids.
Can YOU spot the one crab different from all the others?
The new job was also fun to do but this time had to be raced through to try and meet the sinking deadline. I'll post that outcome shortly.

• PEACH YOGHURT •

• PEACH YOGHURT •
With the help from Form Z and photoshop comes this rendition of peachy yoghurt. A quick and simple illustration for a supermarket brand.
Other than this I've been working on 4 lengthy jobs for Interplay - featuring more Imaginetic magnetic sticker sets. I cannot post these yet as they are not released.

•YOGHURT COATED SNACKS•

•YOGHURT COATED SNACKS•
This year has started with a decent flurry of work, none of which I can post just yet.
There have been illustrations for sanitary products, graphics for dental care and designs for hair care. Plus an exciting piece of game box artwork for Ninja Turtles, and as soon as it's given the green light I'll post it.
Meanwhile here are two bits of artwork that have never featured in my promotional material up until now. FormZ helped me with the yoghurt coating and photo illustration took care of the rest.

•BUG BELLY UPDATE

•BUG BELLY UPDATE
This year certainly started with an epic rush of work. I think I've already produced around 60 or 70 illustrations to date.
These range from labels for a cheese pack, beer bottles, medical packaging, washing up liquids, washing powders, pop-up greetings cards and another poster in the set for Nationwide.
I also managed to sweep aside commissioned work long enough to think about some new sketches for Bug Belly as suggested buy an interested editor.
Since I'm not at liberty to display most of the other work at this moment in time, here is one of the new sketches featuring the ever hungry Bug Belly striving to gather up a few furry, wriggling spiders.
I've also produced some new full colour illustration work for Bug Belly but I don't want to jeopardise his possible success by splashing too much of him around. It might be unlucky to do so, not that I'm superstitious, touch wood.
